Contraceptive Implant (Implanon NXT®)

What is it?
A small, flexible plastic rod (about the size of a matchstick) inserted just under the skin of your upper arm. It releases a low dose of the hormone progestogen to prevent pregnancy.

  • May reduce painful or heavy periods

  • Can be removed at any time if you want to conceive or change method

  • Insertion: a quick procedure done under local anaesthetic in the clinic (takes only a few minutes).
