With more women in Australia choosing to start families later in life, it’s important to understand how fertility changes over time. Female fertility begins to decline more rapidly from age 35. That’s why we offer early and proactive fertility consultations to maximise your chances of a healthy pregnancy—when the time is right for you.
Pregnancy Planning
In your consultation, our GPs take the time to discuss your goals, timelines, and future family plans. We can explore options such as genetic carrier testing for you and your partner, offering insight into any inheritable conditions. We'll also review your menstrual cycle and any current or past contraceptive use, offering advice and recommendations to prepare your body for a successful conception.
Fertility checks may involve testing for one or both partners, depending on your circumstances. For women, we review menstrual patterns, conduct pelvic scans to assess ovarian reserve, run a full STI screen, and test hormone levels, including Anti-Müllerian Hormone (AMH). These are timed with your cycle and coordinated by your GP.
For men, the fertility assessment involves semen analysis and hormone testing, along with a complete review of lifestyle, medical history, and other factors that may impact fertility. Where needed, we can refer for further specialist testing or treatment.
