Dr. Vajna Rafeek is a distinguished General Practitioner and Women’s Health Specialist with over 30 years of dedicated service across Sri Lanka, the United Kingdom, and Australia. As the Clinical Lead and Founder of multiple practices – including Hanson Medical Centre, Hanson Dental Surgery, DRV Women’s Health and Aesthetics Studio, Doctors of Lancefield, and Hanson Specialist Suites – she has built her career on the belief that women deserve healthcare that is both comprehensive and compassionate.
Her journey began with an MBBS degree from the University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka (1996), where she also played a pivotal role in pioneering IVF services in the country. Known for her “Midas touch” in reproductive health, she quickly established herself as a trusted advocate for women struggling with gynaecological, obstetric, and fertility challenges.
In the United Kingdom, Dr. Rafeek worked extensively with the NHS, where her commitment to empowering women and supporting informed health choices became a defining feature of her practice. She later migrated to Australia, where she trained in emergency medicine at the Northern Hospital, Epping, before transitioning into general practice.
Today, Dr. Rafeek is a trusted Shared Maternity Care Provider, working closely with The Royal Women’s Hospital, Mercy Hospital for Women, Northern Health, and Western Health to ensure safe, positive pregnancy journeys for her patients. Beyond obstetrics and fertility, her expertise spans child health, dermatology, menopause care, and aesthetic medicine, always delivered through a holistic, patient-centred approach.
A passionate educator and mentor, Dr. Rafeek is dedicated to training and guiding both international medical graduates and local GP registrars, ensuring the next generation of doctors are supported with knowledge, confidence, and compassion.
Outside her professional life, Vajna embraces balance through badminton and literary pursuits, which serve as creative outlets and sources of rejuvenation.
